Our Story
While building different types of software products at multiple companies, we kept encountering similar challenges with data. Live state stored in typical databases supports day-to-day operations but is not sufficient for later business intelligence and auditing needs. Recording events provides the necessary data but generates such large volume that processing was not timely enough for real-time operations. ETL to bridge the two worlds was complicated and brittle.
We realized that event sourcing should be the answer, but it required even more work and risk to build applications with this relatively exotic architecture. The database needs to support this architecture as a first class feature and eliminate the need for a separate data storage system and ETL. We are now building that database: Event Warehouse.
